Cathedral Grove

Some of the largest old growth Douglas Fir in the world can be found in this fantastic forest located on the way to Port Alberni. The Park straddles Hwy 4 and is easily accessible. Boardwalks, interpretive signage and washroom facilities make this a smart place to stop and stretch your legs.

On the south side you will find the largest Douglas firs – one measuring more than 9 meters in circumference. On the northern side of the road you’ll find groves of ancient Western red cedar standing sentry over nearby Cameron Lake.
