Saltspring Island Tour
Salt Spring Island is one of the most accessible of the Gulf Islands offering 3 BC Ferry terminals, float plane docks and marinas. Whether you're walking, cycling, driving, cruising or flying in, this island with amaze you. Take your time to poke about the funky and eclectic shops in Ganges or Fulford Harbour. Here you will be exposed to Island Time. Clearly there are more important things than being punctual. Everyone is late and no one complains. It’s a part of being a member of the community, an Island rite of passage.
Pickup a map of the art galleries and studios on the island, your only job, finding time to visit them all. Consider a walk on the Hastings House Sculpture Trail. This famous country inn offers an outdoor gallery experience that takes you through woods where an array of sculptural works are displayed.
Taking a drive around the island will offer you the experience of a lifetime. Ocean glimpses, meadows, mountains and rock faces will beckon you to explore. As you pass roadside stands of flowers, veggies and eggs, you can help but notice that the honor system is alive and well on the island.
On our last road trip we decided to check out Burgoyne Bay and much to our surprise found heritage farm buildings dating back to 1947. It appears that these buildings will be renovated as a heritage site.
Visit a vineyard, organic working farm, find fairy doors at Mount Erskine or just grab fixings from the local farmers market and have a picnic. On Salt Spring Island, all you need to bring is your love of life we'll take care of the rest.
