Temperance Hotel

This wood  frame building at the corner of First St. and High St., was the only hotel in Ladysmith that didn't serve liquor, hence the name Temperance. In 1913 striking miners set off a bomb near the hotel to intimidate the officials who were staying at the Temperance. It later served as an emergency room during the flu epidemic of 1918-19. If those walls could talk!
