Royston BC

Situated on the waterfront across the harbour from Comox, this hamlet is home to just over 1200 people. Settled in 1890, Royston played an important role as the transportation port for the logging and mining industry. To protect the booming grounds a breakwater comprised of derelict vessels was constructed. The Explorer's Club survey found evidence of 14 ships, although the remains of a 15th, a whaling harpoon boat, may be buried beneath rock that serves as the modern breakwater.
