The building is one of Nanaimo's premiere Art Deco style buildings. The Eagles Hall was built as a meeting place and a dance hall with rentable space thus allowing a revenue stream to the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The cast concrete eagle sculpture over the front entry is a silent reminder of days gone by.
The Eagles provided medical and other benefits to their members before government sponsored programs were in place. They are still an active community organization providing for their communities in many capacities. People helping people since 1898
Look around the corner of the building onto Skinner St. and discover the wonderful original exterior features that remain. The current colour choice has highlighted the beautiful lines of the geometric details that are rendered in cast concrete.
We have no greater happiness than promoting the arts for both youth and our elders and as such our favorite business in Eagles Hall is the Harbour Dancentre.
