From Boat to Table
One of the most wonderful aspects of living on Vancouver Island is the abundance of fresh sustainable seafood at our doorstep. Whether you are on the Island’s north, south, east or west coast you can find fresh, in season seafood celebrating a ‘boat to table’ philosophy. There are few places in the world that have this luxury.
In our time of climate change and increasing ocean pollution, the stewardship of the fishery is made all the more important. The WWF reports that over 70% of fish species are either fully exploited, overexploited, depleted, or recovering from depletion. If over-fishing does not decrease, it is predicted that stocks of all species currently commercially fished will collapse by 2048
In an answer to this dilemma we have found businesses all around our coastline that pride themselves on offering the freshest of product in a sustainable manner. The businesses listed below have expressed a love of our environment and possess a sense of stewardship that will ensure our fisheries will be viable for future generations.
